‘I have had a lot of worries in my life, most of which never happened’ – Mark Twain. My thesis is about changing this thought pattern by not letting people around me to stop me from doing things in life by just because of an uncertain fear. It is rather about practicing positivity and believing in natural flow of things.
With my artwork I aim to provoke thought about all kind of anxiety, worry and stress that are caused by too much future and not enough presence.
We sometimes find ourselves in situations that we can’t change. It’s important to keep in mind that whatever you’re accepting does not have to be something you enjoy, want, or support. Acceptance begins with recognizing reality as it exists today.
My thesis focuses on accepting life as it is and recognizing that whatever occurs is for the best. I am convinced that Allah has wonderful things for me. For the time being, it may appear that everything has gone wrong, yet Allah’s decisions are always for the best.
My thesis highlights the impacts of wrong decisions sometimes our parents take. Those impacts come in the form of financial crises, depression, anxiety, and clashes among close relations giving birth to hate. All this is the result of that ONE wrong decision. Being close to someone, especially relatives whom we trust and have been living our life with, sometimes makes us blind by seeing some facts around us. Termite attack in each of my paintings is used as a symbol to show the deadly impacts of those wrong decisions on our lives.
My work depicts the manipulated practices and customs of our life, that we ourselves create, enjoy and criticize simultaneously. These practices are a result of several factors such as show off, image maintenance, society pressure, complexes, competition and etc. Ribbon is used as an icon in my miniature paintings, demonstrating how these destructive practices are being presented and passed down as a gift from generation to generation, producing nothing but difficulties.
My Work highlights the selfless love of parents for us and the importance of gratitude in life.
When a person is alive then he is not valued and it is only after his departure from the world when we realize the importance of that person.
Blood relations are the most important. However even amongst the blood relations, the love of parents for their children is unlimited and purest form of love. We can’t measure the love of parents, nor can it be returned in any way. Parents worry about their children, they care, they feel responsible for every need of their child. But unfortunately, we ignore this blessing every single day in life and take it for granted as a daily routine matter.
The title reflects the selfless love that my father had nurtured me with during his life that makes my life heaven.
The poetic verse is taken from the poetry of Anwar Masood which I used to highlight the main element (money), that there are such characters in our society who used to fool people just for the sake of money and they are peer/Amil actually fake Amils who take the advantage of people's life problems by giving them Taweez or doing Ruqya on them. They claim that they can turn any bad condition into good one or every problem of every nature would solve.
Misconception of people regarding Taweez and Ruqya represents weak faith on Allah as Muslims, having such weak faith effects everyone differently and people are fooled on the basis of this.
